Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Drama Theater named after Gorky – a city theatre striking the visitor with its magnificent interior and rich historical past. This place should be visited by those who is interested in city architecture, in order to get acquainted with classics of the Russian literature, to see the ‘real’ Russian theater. This theater has been performing in Nizhny Novgorod since 1798. The stage hosts the M. Gorky theater festival. The repertoire of theater includes plays by Gorky, Ostrovsky, Bulgakov, Saltykov-Shchedrin, performances based on novels by Kuprin. The modern dramatic art is presented by Galceran, Camoletti or Kishon. The repertoire also provides an opportunity to see the plays of Molière, Shakespeare and Wilde.
